CANADA IS BURNING! National Day of Action

On June 28, 2023, there was a National Day of Action, using the moment of increasing wildfires across Canada and the smoke filling the air of places many kilometres away, including the United States, to highlight the Climate Crisis. In Toronto, Pax Christi Toronto members were present at two rallies which took place at the offices of Julie Dabrusin MP and Chrystia Freeland MP.

Militarism and Carbon Emissions

Pax Christi Toronto is greatly concerned about all sources which increase the amount of carbon emission in the atmosphere. Very grave sources of carbon emissions are the Canadian Department of National Defense and all military activity. However, military pollution is not considered in deliberations to decrease Greenhouse Gases despite the Canadian government’s statement that everything will be looked at through the lens of Climate.

Palestine-Israel Apartheid

Pax Christi Toronto is involved in promoting and supporting many groups to stand in solidarity with Palestinians, and in raising awareness in Canada of the struggle of Palestinian Christians, while joining all people in Palestine and Israel striving for peace with justice toward reconciliation.

Environment

With recent alarming reports on the state of the Environment from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, recently identified at COP 26 (See report here…) we are at a pivotal time to decide our future priorities with respect to caring for Creation, in order to avoid contributing to serious environmental problems in the future.
