About Pax Christi Toronto

Pax Christi Toronto, originally “Catholics for PEACE”, has been a member organization of the global Pax Christi network since 2010.

Pax Christi International is an organization with over 90 member groups and almost 50,000 members worldwide dedicated to peace. Its international headquarters is in Belgium, and regional sections exist in Europe, Africa, and The Americas. Pax Christi Toronto belongs to the regional section of The Americas.

We believe that by aligning ourselves with other active groups with a history of achievement in the cause of peace, that we can fulfill Canada’s role as a nation known in the past as a peacemaker.

Since 2021, Pax Christi Toronto is an active member of the Canada-Wide Peace and Justice Network. For many years, we have allied and collaborated with a number of like-spirited organizations throughout the Province of Ontario.

As Christians, we are committed to the “terms” that the Lord has imposed on nations…

They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; national shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
Isaiah 2:4

Nonviolence

The spirit and activities of Pax Christi Toronto are based in an understanding of Nonviolence as a way of life, a foundational principle of the spiritual journey, and a means of healing and transformation.

Through ongoing advocacy and educational campaigns, and in collaboration with other Peace groups, we strive to promote the gospel message of Peace and Non-Violence. We study, reflect, educate, act and advocate for a world where everyone can live in peace, without fear of violence in all its forms.
